Why U Soe Aung, First Secretary, Burmese Embassy, Washington DC, USA joined Democratic Camp ?

U Soe Aung, a Burmese diplomat at the Burmese Embassy in Washington DC, United States of America has decided to apply for political asylum today, July 13, 2011. He is currently serving as the First Secretary at the Burmese embassy.
He was ordered to return immediately to Naypyidaw accompanied by a military officer by Thein Sein military government’s Foreign Office, dated July 12, 2011. And his diplomatic passport and other official documents were confiscated by the embassy as well.
Washington based Burmese diplomats did their best to improve/promote American- Burmese relations. However, failure on the part of the Burmese military government to affect relevant democratic reforms in the country frustrated the diplomats according to senior diplomat U Kyaw Win last week.
Why did they no longer have confidence on Thein Sein’s puppet military government?
1. Awareness of the military government’s dismiss/imprison/abandon policies.
2. Promotions given to unqualified lackeys and family members of the military junta.
3. Dissatisfaction among the Burmese diplomatic personnel serving in foreign lands on Wunna Maung Lwin, a lackey of the military government, promoted and given the ambassador post despite a relatively short service and lacking in experience as well.
4. Recently promoted Wunna Maung Lwin’s ploys to remove senior and experienced diplomats with a view to subdue and make them subservient to him.
5. Absolute loss of confidence on Shwe Mann, Tin Aung Myint Oo, Thein Sein led puppet government in Burma.
6. Loss of credibility, dignity and face on the part of the diplomats among the Burmese community living in foreign lands due to the military government constantly ignoring and non-acknowledgement of the endeavors of the Burmese diplomatic personnel doing their best to affect national reconciliation.
7. Loss of credibility much less credence and dignity on the part of the Burmese diplomatic personnel ordered to tell true lies – no political prisoners in Burma and others despite the fact - in the United Nations and among the international diplomatic corp. and
8. Organized corruption/graft among the military cliques in particular which is unacceptable as well according to talks among the Burmese community living in foreign lands.

Hi Ko Moethee,

Pls do not allow to refuge and migrate to them for escaping their personal reasons. You should consider for 88 generations who were staying in government jail.

All of the embassy staff nature are like this and not natural.

You already know that they never help our national people in oversea. Then always take the millions dollars for tax and this is not recorded for legally. We hate all embassy staff.

Pls consider for public feedback.

Thanks a lot.
