Press release on  Lt. General Ko Ko's invitation to exiled political leader, Ko Moe Thee Zun

Published in online media “The Yangon Times”, Lt. General Ko Ko has extended an invitation to exiled political leaders, including Ko Moe Thee Zun who led a students’ rebellion after the 1988 uprisings, to return to Burma in order to participate in the ongoing political processes. However, an official offer of invitation to return to Burma and participate in genuine political processes is yet to be forthcoming.

We are thankful to Lt. General Ko Ko for his offer.  We also recognize that the recent release of the ‘88 student leaders and other prominent democracy advocates is significant and it is a move Burma and the world is reacting with joy and cheer. The government has indeed followed up on the promise it has made, by taking this first crucial step toward a national reconciliation in Burma.

Now we all will be watching if the government will release the remaining political prisoners and continue with an all inclusive national reconciliation.

Ko Moe Thee Zun and his political affiliates will be weighing on the issues of returning and participating in current political processes in Burma.

Ko Moe Thee Zun is currently meeting with various exiled political leaders, intellectuals, and oversea business leaders in anticipation to participate in a comprehensive peaceful national reconciliation and modernization of Burma.
